Different types of affiliate marketing
Affiliate marketing is a broad term that refers to a type of online revenue sharing scheme, which includes advertising and selling. It dates back to late 1994, when many e-commerce sites started using the system and found that it produced great results. Right now, affiliate marketing is a serious player in your ecommerce strategy.
When an affiliate partner joins an e-commerce merchant of some kind (be it a subscription service, shopping site, etc...) payment is received through referrals made from the affiliate's website - this is done through the following methods
1) Pay Per Click Systems Basically, the affiliate displays ads on their website and gets paid when a customer or internet user clicks on that website
2) RSS feeds or blogs – Even personal websites can fall into this category. Blogging is
quickly becoming an essential form of marketing and promotion, and affiliate marketing partners handle this type of online communication well
3) Comparison sites and shopping guides – such as review sites or legitimate advertising sites
4) Loyalty sites – This occurs when the rewards system is implemented via a cash back or points redemption system (or charitable donations)
5) Coupon sites that focus strictly on marketing and promotions
6) Email Lists – Legitimate email lists of subscribers to affiliate sites, etc. – not spam
7) Registration Path – When someone signs up for a particular site, whether it is for a
newsletter or a subscription, offers from other businesses are represented and advertised
.
8) Networks – There are many affiliate networks. Some also set up multi-level or multi-level marketing.
